Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen City Centre by IHG

The breakfast service spoiled what could have been a good stay. I know there are set hours, but once staff began clearing the buffet, they came to guests’ tables and told us to leave. They even handed us a tray and told us to take the remaining food to the lobby and finish it there. Guests who are already seated and eating should be able to finish without being pressured to move. If service needs to end, staff could communicate the last service time clearly and handle it politely and discreetly. Being moved out mid-meal didn’t feel hospitable or acceptable. The room was clean and comfortable, the front desk service was genuinely helpful, and the location was excellent for the city centre.

We visited family and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Feb 2026. It was fantastic value, and the included breakfast was good. The hotel was spotless, our room was a decent size, and things were quiet apart from the usual noise of people heading to their rooms. The staff were great. When our daughter arrived for one night at the end of our stay, they arranged the room next door for her. There’s a Wetherspoons two minutes away for budget food and drinks.

The receptionist with dyed hair was lovely. I arrived far too early and didn’t expect to check in, but she let me work quietly in the meeting room and even brought me coffee and a biscuit. Such a kind gesture. The room was decent, and this is a good hotel compared with most Holiday Inn Expresses. Breakfast was a bit rubbish, though that’s what I’d expect from a Holiday Inn Express.

Our rooms were clean and comfortable, but my wife and I especially wanted to thank Dyson for how thoughtful and helpful he was. Our connecting flight from Aberdeen was cancelled, and with an 8 month old and a 5 year old we were pretty stressed when we arrived around 10pm. Dyson at reception was calm and kind, and immediately put us at ease. He went above and beyond to make a difficult night manageable, even enjoyable. Our 5 year old went from a major airport meltdown to calling it the best hotel ever and wanting to stay longer 😂. Dyson is a real asset to a welcoming, well run hotel.
