Sunday night was good value, though prices vary a lot by day of the week. The room was excellent and had everything I’d expect from a modern hotel, and dinner and breakfast were very good. It’s a 45-minute walk from the station, so you’ll need a taxi. My only complaint is the price of drinks at the bar, though maybe I just don’t get out enough to compare these days!

Breakfast was included, and the poached eggs on a muffin with avo and lime were really good. The staff were all great during our overnight stay. There was renovation work happening, but it didn’t affect us. Our room had no heating, though five plug-in oil heaters made up for it.

The hotel looked stunning, with modern decor and cosy lighting, and parking at both the front and back was a bonus. Breakfast was cooked to order and excellent. I had no room booked when I arrived for a nearby work Christmas dance, an oversight on my part, but the receptionist and management were understanding and empathetic. They found me a room and even upgraded me for free, a lovely touch. I had a fantastic stay in December, and the staff deserve credit for their terrific attitude and eagerness to make guests feel special. Merry Christmas, Malmaison Aberdeen.

We received Afternoon Tea as a gift from close friends for our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Chez Mal served a modern tea with a bistro slant, including hot and cold savouries alongside traditional bakes and desserts. The food was delicious, the atmosphere comfortable, and the service polite and friendly. No soft white bread on today’s menu.

The room was lovely, with a coffee machine, chocolates and a good choice of TV stations. I also liked the relaxed lounge and bar and the friendly staff. The car park at the back is useful, though quite small. The idea of rewarding guests who reduce room cleaning on multi-night stays is great. Very happy with my stay.
