We spent a lovely two nights in the Wizardry Suite at Wizards Thatch this weekend. The huge bed was very comfortable, and the linen and towels were fresh and clean. There’s lots of quirky memorabilia and plenty of games to enjoy, perfect for a relaxed afternoon with a glass of wine. The one awkward thing was the lack of a downstairs sink. We could only rinse our cups in the upstairs toilet room, which oddly had two sinks.

We were visiting friends nearby and going to Jodrell Bank, and stayed here for a few nights. The room was gorgeous and full of quirky details, games and DVDs. The photos don’t do it justice, and it was also super clean. Comfortable bed, fluffy towels and a hot shower. Our host Iain was available and helpful when we had questions. We’d stay again.
The owner was very personable and gave us useful advice. The place itself was quirky and really interesting. We stayed one night in Merlins and another in Wizardry. It’s just around the corner from the main street, so pubs, restaurants and shops are easy to get to. We went to a lovely Turkish “cafe” for breakfast.
The rooms are nice, but there’s no sink downstairs where the “kitchen” is. You can’t wash your hands while preparing or eating food, or wash the plates. Several things weren’t working, including the TV and CD player. They should check these between guests. The owner was too intense for me, calling several times and chatting for half an hour about nothing. The website says in huge letters that you automatically get early check-ins and late check-outs, but that simply wasn’t true. Check-in was at 15:00 and checkout at 10:00.
Quirky, cosy and romantic, we were totally blown away by the whole experience. This was our first visit to Wizards Thatch, and it certainly won’t be the last. Our host Ian communicated really well and recommended great bars, restaurants and walks around Alderley Edge. A must-stay, absolutely superb. 👌 Regards, Mitch and Kim Sears.
