Ambleside is only a short five minute walk away, with the steps into town right outside the front door. From the apartment window, the panoramic views over the fells were fantastic. We had our best two night stay at Barnes Fell Apartment, and the place was exactly as described. Ethna was a wonderful host. It was lovely meeting someone who clearly loves the area and wants to give visitors good value. We enjoyed every minute and will return when we’re back in the Lakes.

The apartment had lovely views and was just a five minute walk into Ambleside. It was so peaceful, exactly what we needed for a relaxing break. We stayed three nights and enjoyed it immensely. Ethna was friendly, welcoming and a great host. We’ll definitely be back.

The lounge views were mesmerising, especially early in the morning. We could sit with a coffee and watch the mist roll down the valley. Parking was easy, and town was within easy reach. The apartment was nicely furnished and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our visit to Ambleside and our stay at Barnes Fell. Ethna made us feel welcome straight away and was a perfect host. A fabulous stay with a fabulous host, thank you.

We travelled by train, bus and on foot, and Barnes Fell was very easy to reach without a car. The views from the top were spectacular. We booked a last minute Lake District trip and were lucky to get the last apartment available. The description, reviews, location and price all shaped our choice, and after three nights we wished we could stay longer. Everything exceeded our expectations, from the personal touches in the apartment to the friendly hospitality from Ethna, who contacted us after we booked and saw us off when we left. I’d definitely recommend Barnes Fell to anyone visiting the Lake District.

The rooms had everything needed, and Ethan and Nick were helpful with ideas for our stay and local transport information. Barnes fell is a lovely, homely b&b, just a stone’s throw from ambleaide village centre. It’s a great place to stay even if you don’t know the lakes well. We really enjoyed our visit and would come again.
