Elder Grove

Breakfast was superb, with excellent eggs and black pudding, plus fruit, yogurts and a wide choice of other options. We really enjoyed it. There’s also an honesty bar with a good selection of drinks and snacks. The welcome was friendly, check-in was quick, and our room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom was excellent and spotless, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we’ve had in a B&B. Guests have plenty of parking round the back, and you can get to reception from the parking area. Elder Grove is ideally placed on the one-way stretch as you leave town. It’s only a five-minute walk to the centre of Ambleside, close enough to go in easily but far enough out to avoid the congestion. The high Google rating is deserved. It’s an excellent B&B.

We only stayed one night, but it was very comfortable and we’ll definitely be back. The rooms were cosy, the bed was comfortable and everything we needed was there. I was down with a friend, and we had an early hike with friends the next morning. The owner kindly made us bacon butties for the early start. There was an excellent breakfast choice too, and the location is perfect.

Elder Grove is somewhere we’d definitely recommend to anyone staying in the Lakes. The rooms were cutely decorated, and breakfast was delicious each morning. Giles makes homemade marmalade, and it was absolutely delicious! Andrea and Giles were among the kindest, most welcoming hosts we’ve met, and went out of their way to keep us comfortable. When we had a Wi-Fi issue, they helped sort it out straight away. We had an amazing stay :)

We stayed two nights while visiting Ambleside, and the location was excellent: close to the centre but away from the traffic and noise. The owners gave us a warm welcome and were very friendly. Our junior suite was bright and spacious, with a comfortable bed and an excellent shower. Everything was spotless. Breakfast was fantastic, made with local produce, and the service was quick and friendly. The honesty bar is a lovely room for a drink before or after dinner, and it was nice to try the local gin.
