The Sunday roast beef was the best we’d had in ages, and the portions were proper generous. Breakfast was brill too. We were staying in a cottage in Outgate and this pub quickly became our local. Jamie and Nicola were especially kind when my wife, who uses a wheelchair, needed the ramp. They had it out straight away, with no wait. The staff are so friendly and chatty, a real change these days. We’ll definitely come back next time we’re in the Lakes. Cheers, guys.

After a long walk in the lovely countryside, we had a good value meal here. The food came hot, was nicely cooked and tasty, though good rather than exceptional. It’s a village pub in tiny Outgate, with easy parking and pleasant staff. The menu is more limited than at many pubs, but there’s still enough choice for most people.

I went in by myself for dinner and a glass of wine after seeing the good reviews, and what a gem. The hunters chicken was delicious, and a staff member even brought my dog a napkin full of treats. The customers were friendly too, and the whole pub had such a lovely atmosphere. Honestly couldn’t have asked for more.

Dogs are welcome, which was a useful bonus, and the staff made us feel really welcome. We’d driven past and thought it might be a good place to eat, so came back the next day. Glad we did. The Sunday roast was lovely, and sticky toffee pudding was a fantastic finish.

Really friendly, cosy pub, and we had a wonderful meal. The portions were enormous and everything tasted excellent. One person in our party has a serious egg allergy, and the staff were incredibly helpful about explaining what was safe to order. Couldn’t recommend it more.
