There were ten of us at a table I'd booked in the Loft, and Alex, the bar manager, treated us like VIPs from the moment we came in. Nothing was too much trouble. The decor was superb, the atmosphere great and the prices reasonable. We played darts and watched the FA Cup final, and they even let us bring in food from a nearby chippy. All the lads said what a great place it was. We had a fantastic afternoon and will be back soon.

A really friendly country pub. There's a good range of beers and drinks, and both the staff and locals are welcoming. We didn't eat, but the menu looked good. Dogs are welcome indoors and outside, where there's also a drinking area. We'll be back.

The worst place I've stayed by far, despite having travelled for work and slept in hundreds of hotels and B&Bs. I was there for three nights, and won't return. The shared shower rooms were awful, with broken locks and hardly enough space to get in and out. The rooms are over a nightclub, the walls are paper thin, and you can hear people snoring, so don't expect sleep. Worse, someone came into my room at midnight on the second night because they'd been given the wrong key. The same thing happened again on the last evening, when they checked someone else into my room. Your belongings won't be safe. Avoid at all costs!

We booked many months ahead for Download Festival, paid hundreds for it, and were left with nowhere to stay and little time to get to the event. On arrival, an unhelpful staff member told us all the rooms were uninhabitable, there were no beds, and every booking had been cancelled. The money had already been taken from my account. He said customers had arrived the previous night and been turned away. Why didn't anyone tell us in time to make other arrangements? Why take the payment, or at least not ask Booking.com to notify travellers? We also lost £40 on taxis and £12 on parking unnecessarily. Disgraceful treatment and shameful people.

The staff were friendly, the facilities clean, and my room was serviced during my two-night stay. The bed was comfortable, and there was a relatively new LCD TV. But hot water pipes running through the room kept it uncomfortably warm. The shower was damaged, with cold water dripping on me constantly. Single-glazed windows meant I woke when the town centre got lively at 6:30AM. The WiFi didn't work at all. I also felt overcharged: I paid £130 for one person for two nights, even though rooms were advertised from £29 a night and the hotel guide called it a budget B&B.
