The Sunningdale Bamburgh

The location is brilliant, but we definitely wouldn't stay again. Our room, number 12, was clean and the bed very comfortable, yet the walls had big cracks with plaster falling off. The outside door handle was missing, replaced with a plastic hook to pull the door shut. The bathroom had a lot of wasted space, while the shower itself was small, cold and needed a proper clean. I don't think its drainage plug had ever been removed. Breakfast service was a real problem. On the first day, staff took our order, then we waited 50 minutes for the food. We could hear kitchen staff chatting from the dining area, and another guest also asked about the delay. Service was better the second day. On our last day we waited 40 minutes for a sausage sandwich that had just one sausage.

We were lucky to get a last-minute booking at the Sunningdale. The room was very comfortable, the location was great, and breakfast was brilliant. Staff were friendly and helpful. We'd definitely return.

We had a good two-night stay. The hotel is close to the local pubs and shop, and only 5-10 minutes from the beach. Our room had tea and a coffee maker, plus a comfy bed and clean, modern decor. The smaller top-floor rooms could use more hanging space, as four hooks isn't enough. There was a good spread of pastries, muffins and cereal before the cooked breakfast. The serving window is 08:00-09:30, and most guests seemed ready to eat between 08:00 and 08:30. Even with three staff on, things felt frantic and slow. We waited 50 minutes after sitting down for our cooked breakfast and were late for our boat trip. Maybe opening at 07:00 or serving later would ease the rush. We'd still stay again 😁

I stayed one night during a walking holiday and would love to come back. The rooms were beautifully clean and well stocked with drinks, and breakfast was exceptional. I could've eaten everything! The staff were as friendly, helpful and accommodating as could be.
