Alma Cliffe

Leaving was the only part I wasn’t happy about. We loved our stay at Alma Cliffe GuestHouse, and Tracey made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable, worry-free visit. Such a charming host.

The steep walk up to the front door is worth it. Tracey was a fabulous host, and there’s a lounge for tea and coffee at any hour. Breakfast came piping hot with a great choice. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless, and the room had all the little details covered, including toiletries in case you’d forgotten anything. A real gem of a guest house, and I’ll be back.

Tracey pointed us towards The Craven Heifer Inn nearby, a dog friendly place with really good food. Our dogs were welcomed with treats in the room, and our 12 year old had the lounge to himself. At Alma Cliffe, our spotless room had a double and single bed with lovely views. The roomy private bathroom was a short walk away, and the huge bath is one I’d like to try next time. Tracey was lovely, and the cooked breakfast was delicious, with plenty from local butchers. We had a great stay and would recommend it, especially with Skipton and the Dales just a short drive away.

The breakfast lounge has a TV, with snacks and drinks available, and it’s where we ate in the morning. The continental breakfast is included, or you can pay £7.95 for a full English. We did, and it was filling, generous and made with local produce. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and treated our well behaved dogs like guests too. We stayed one night during a long weekend in the Yorkshire Dales. The house sits on a hill, with lovely views from every window and a brilliant look at 2 or the 3 yorkshire 3 peaks from the front decking. Our room was tidy and clean, though a bit snug for three with a double and a single bed. The beds were very comfortable. The huge bathroom was next door, with a corner bath and a separate shower. We’d stay again if we’re in the area.
