The owners were lovely and accommodating, and the house was peaceful at night. We stayed in Room 2, which was spacious and had a window facing the front of the property. The shared bathrooms were always clean. It's an old building, so expect creaky stairs and a few cracks, but it has a lot of charm. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back.

Mel’s scrambled eggs were a hit with all of us, and breakfast was amazing. Mel and Stuart made us feel welcome before we'd even got out of the car. Our few days at Roosecote Guest House were brilliant: the rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. Thanks for such a great stay, Angela & family. We’re already looking forward to coming back.

The room is a great size and spotlessly clean, and the hosts are charming. Breakfast was lovely too. Though it’s only five minutes outside Barrow, the setting feels like countryside. We’ve still got two nights to go, but already I can’t recommend this characterful, warm guest house enough.

There were 10 of us, so over the bank holiday weekend we pretty much had the whole house to ourselves. Mel kindly let us use whatever we needed to be comfortable, and since none of us had been to the Lake District before, she suggested places to visit. Lovely surroundings, a great host and a perfect place for a getaway. 10/10, would recommend.

We slept really well and will definitely come back. The guest house was clean, friendly and set in beautiful surroundings. Our room was comfortable, spotless and had everything we needed.
