Crowne Plaza Basingstoke

The evening buffet for the children was brilliant. They could choose what they wanted, eat without waiting ages, and change their minds easily. The grown-up food was tasty too, though personally I found it a bit 'poncy' for my taste. The staff were great with us and our children, welcoming us really warmly and making things a lot easier. Lovely hotel. I'd definitely look to stay again if I was in the area.

Breakfast was lovely, and the pancake machine made perfect, tasty pancakes. The reception and bar are lovely too. Staff were helpful, and even though work had booked a single room, they gave me a double. The website shows a lovely-looking room, but only half the hotel has been upgraded, and mine looked nothing like the pictures online. Would I stay again? Yes, and I hope to see the new rooms next time.

The outside doesn't look great, but when my daughter and I arrived, we were greeted with smiles. The receptionist explained everything brilliantly and had a goody bag ready for my daughter. The room was cosy, with a very comfortable bed and a clean bathroom with a big bath. The food was brilliant. I had the trout, and the pudding was good too. The bar didn't have a good selection of beers on tap. I'd stay again.

I've stayed here once a month for the last five months, and not once have I been booked into one of the newly renovated rooms. When I ask to move, reception says they're fully booked, even though I could still book online. The old, dated rooms have a slight unpleasant smell and make creaky noises, but they're clean and the beds are very comfortable. Service in the restaurant can take a long time, though the food has been decent.
