The setting was lovely, with beautiful views and comfortable furnishings that made it feel relaxing and inviting. It certainly looked like the kind of place for a special treat. But the afternoon tea itself felt poor value for £90. The food was pleasant enough, but there wasn't the quality, creativity, or quantity I'd expect at that price: one bite-size sausage roll, four finger sandwiches, two scones, and four bite-size pastries. It was underwhelming. The staff were friendly and polite, though clearly very young, seemingly teenagers working part time for extra cash. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but the service lacked the polish and attentiveness I'd associate with a five-star experience. I was gifted the tea and had really looked forward to it. The venue and views were beautiful, but for £90 I expected something more memorable and refined. Apart from the setting, nothing felt five star.

(20/02/2026) The Observatory at the Grand Central Hotel Belfast made for a really pleasant couple of hours away from the usual daily grind. The atmosphere was warm, and the views over the city were spectacular. We happily worked our way through the afternoon tea menu. The staff were especially friendly, considerate, and polite, and clearly enjoyed looking after us. We thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to come back later in the year.

Breakfast was a brilliant start to the day, with lots of choice and everything tasting great. My room at the Grand Central Hotel Belfast was clean, comfortable, and nicely done, with everything feeling fresh and well cared for. It made for a really relaxing stay. Everything was spot on, and I’d happily stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting Belfast.

We had a fantastic weekend stay in my sisters, from beginning to end. The room was absolutely beautiful, with massive, comfortable beds. We got a warm welcome on arrival, and the staff were really helpful when we needed taxis. The shower was lovely and hot, with strong pressure, and the toiletries were really nice. Breakfast was brilliant, with a great selection, probably the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. Service was quick and friendly too. The cocktail bar was lovely, and the cocktails were beautiful. We’ve booked to come back later in the year.

The breakfast choices were excellent, and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. The service was great too. I only missed having a gym, which feels unusual for a modern five-star hotel. It would be worth looking into a nearby gym partnership, since other hotels close by offer guest access. We also had some trouble with the lifts during our stay. Without gym access, I can't give it a full five stars.
