Welly Self Service

The bathroom looked a little dated and the finishing was rough, though it was clean and everything worked. The living space, kitchen and bedroom were clean and looked good too. For the price, the apartment was good value in a pleasant area near the Botanic Gardens, with shops and restaurants within walking distance. It's beside a busy road, but the street itself was quiet. Getting hold of the owner took some effort, and the entry instructions could have been clearer. We tried email and phone before finally texting.

There are two decent, clean double beds, a small kitchen and a comfy sofa in an unusual room layout. Plenty of cafés and shops are nearby, and the main pubs are about a 15-minute walk away. A nightclub is across the road, but it didn't disturb our sleep. I'd recommend it.

They cancelled my booking on 17 March, the day of my trip, after I'd reserved the apartment a month earlier for St. Patrick's Day. They said it was a mistake and offered no solution. Finding a similar place in Belfast at the same price that day was obviously impossible. We went there to ask what had happened and try to sort it out, but nobody answered despite our repeated calls. I still don't know whether it was a scam or a fake rental. Thankfully booking.com eventually resolved it, though we lost half the day because of this.

I've stayed here a few times over the years. It's a nice spot on lisburn road, and Dylan has always looked after me well.
