Blue Piano

The small plates were good, but nearly everything else disappointed us at The Blue Piano. The menu we got was much smaller than the one online, there was no water or cocktail menu, and we felt as if we were bothering the single staff member. The main curry had only about two tablespoons of sauce and around two ladles of oil. It was too salty, and the portions were terrible. I'm glad we booked through first table, because £100 for that meal and quality would not have been acceptable.

Don't book this hotel. Parking was difficult on a busy road, made worse by staff taking up half of the only available bay. We were given the wrong room key, then found the TV didn't work, there were no cups for tea, and no milk because they didn't have any. There was no shower gel or soap, and the bedding was dirty with blood stains. After 9pm the fob wouldn't let us back into the building. There were no staff around and no one answered the phone numbers. There was no breakfast either. I want a refund for the remaining nights.

We've been three times now, and the restaurant has been excellent on every visit. The decor gives it a warm, welcoming feel, the food is outstanding, and the service is friendly and attentive. I'd highly recommend it.

We ate here on New Year's Eve, and the food was genuinely delicious. Service, though, was extremely poor. The girls on the floor were polite and seemed sincere, and clearly trying their best, so it feels unfair to blame them. They came across as untrained, as if they'd never waited tables before. Management needs attention. It felt like the restaurant's regular staff had all been given the night off and replaced with inexperienced, unqualified wait staff. That didn't feel ethical.
