The Dovecote seems to have been refurbished and better managed since the posts from last year. We stayed there for two nights and found the building clean, comfortable and pleasantly furnished, with everything we needed. It has beautiful gardens and plenty of free parking. The main building, Castle Bromwich Hall hotel, is just across the courtyard. That's where you'll find reception, plus a restaurant and bar. Breakfast there was fantastic, with lots of choice at a reasonable price. The staff were welcoming, polite and attentive. I'd recommend staying at the Dovecote with the main hotel's facilities close by.

The room smelled awful, and it was hard to find reception, which is now at the other hotel. Inside, it was filthy. There were dirty pants in the nightstand, Q-tips in the drawers and brown stains on the chair. The wallpaper and window vinyl were peeling, the toilet seat was broken, and the shower was mouldy.

I'm confused about how this hotel is presented. I stayed at Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel just around the corner from OYO Dovecote, then noticed the Dovecote website uses pictures of the bar and reception at Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel. Apparently guests are told by Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel that they can use its bar facilities.

Two guests had bookings at this hotel ahead of my daughter's 40th birthday party on 20 August 2021. The hotel had a large wedding party and cancelled one booking, but that guest had advance warning. The other case was astonishing: three people travelling from Glasgow arrived with no warning that their booking had been cancelled, only to be told the hotel had no record of it. When the guest complained to booking.com, the company checked with the hotel and then confirmed the hotel said the guests hadn't turned up. My advice is not to use this hotel. It's your choice, but you've been warned.

They cancelled my booking four days beforehand, by email only. The cancellation wasn't shown on hotels.com, and I couldn't get through to them because the phone line ended automatically.
