Garner Hotel Birmingham South East by IHG

Even with a last-minute room booking, we had a really good stay. Susan helped us with the room, and the chef made sure there were gluten-free choices at both dinner and breakfast. We were very happy with the experience.

The receptionist made a big difference to our stay, with a warm welcome, lovely manner, and great energy. Service was fantastic from the moment we arrived, and the whole visit felt easy and relaxed. It’s not often you get customer service like that these days. Thanks for a lovely stay, we’ll be back.

The sound carries more than it should. In some rooms you can hear traffic, and inside you hear guests walking between their rooms and using the stairs. Still, the team are doing what they can to make guests comfortable at this new IHG hotel. Gemma and Mustafa were especially helpful and courteous. The food was very good, the rooms were clean, and the beds comfortable. It’s good value, and I’ll stay again.

The main drawback was the road noise. Our room faced the main road, so we heard trains and cars through the night, and with no air conditioning we had to leave the window open. Even so, for the price and location, it was a better choice than anything else nearby. We were in town for a concert at the Utilita Arena, and the train station is right next door, with a 10-minute ride to Moor Street. Parking was easy, early check-in was no problem, and we got a lovely welcome. The room was clean, nicely decorated, and had what we needed. We had drinks at the bar with friendly, chatty staff, then a great breakfast the next morning. The scrambled eggs were especially good.
