Belroy Hotel

There was no hot water in the room and no toilet paper on Saturday 23/08/25, so I had to get into the shower to wash myself. The toilet door has a gap at the side. The beds and pillows were comfortable, though. Such a shame, a few tweaks and this place could be good.

The place feels run down and needs work. There were dirty patches, a broken light fitting, and no sockets by the bed, so electrical extensions had been used. The room was tiny, with wallpaper coming away and curtains down when we arrived. I contacted the owner; he came to look and said he needed parts and would be back in 20 minutes. Two hours later we gave up waiting and went out. It was fixed the next day. Nobody was there to greet us, and the TV was in the wrong spot.

We booked at the last minute and were given a family room. It was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the owner was very accommodating. The location is ideal, about a two-minute walk from Coral Island. I don't know what the reviews are complaining about; there was nothing wrong with the place. Highly recommend it!

The location is handy and the rooms are cheap, and the owner was a very nice, polite man. But the room was utterly filthy. The sheets and pillows hadn't been washed and had red, white, and brown stains, and there were bedbugs. The whole hotel smelled dreadful. Black mould covered the curtains, which hung over the pillows where your head is meant to rest. The shared toilet was dirty, had no lock, and already had an unflushed number two in the bowl when we arrived. There was no hot water anywhere. The place is disgusting and not fit for purpose, definitely not somewhere you want to stay. The owner spends all his time at the Astoria hotel next door, which he also owns. It seems clear he cares about the Astoria and has left the Belroy to rot, quite literally. There are plenty of very cheap, clean hotels nearby, so it's best to stay somewhere else.
