The location was handy, about five minutes from Coral Island and the seafront, which my seven-year-old daughter was thrilled about. We paid £35 through booking.com, and for that price you get what you pay for. The woman who checked us in was lovely, and we didn't need to leave a deposit. We arrived soaked in heavy rain, but waited around ten minutes outside while ringing the bell repeatedly. I eventually got hold of the woman and was let in. Once she'd found our booking, she gave us a room code and two front door keys. The room was okay, though damp and very dated. The shower wasn't great but worked, and the smart TV was a hit with my daughter because she could use YouTube. WiFi was weak, but did the job for one night. Whenever we left and came back, there was a man outside our room. It felt strange and made my daughter uneasy. I put a chair under the handle because I wasn't comfortable with the room code setup while he was hanging around. I later understood he was the owner's son. When we left in the morning, nobody came to check the room or take the keys, which also seemed odd.

The owner was welcoming, and the location is convenient, within walking distance of Coral Island. We were grateful to get a room at short notice after our original hotel turned us away, though we paid well over the odds. I'd stay again at half the price. Thank you.

The kitchen was absolutely filthy, and the bathroom was covered in dust. Our room wasn't very clean, and neither the TV nor the WiFi worked. The owner's son was walking around the property with his trousers undone and falling down. When we left the room in perfect condition, probably cleaner than when we arrived, they tried not to return our deposit until I said I'd call the police. I wouldn't recommend staying here, with or without children. The staff were extremely ignorant.

The kitchen was filthy, so we couldn't cook, and neither the TV nor WiFi worked. Our room was a little dirty, and they checked it as I was leaving without my knowledge or permission. On the second day, the male owner came downstairs with his belt undone and jeans around his knees. I waited to make sure they did their deposit checks, then was told the money would be returned within 24 hours. After I left, they blocked my number. We stayed three nights, and it ruined the holiday for me and my family. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here; you'll be very disappointed.

After paying for two nights, we left at 9am after the first and had to find another hotel. What should have cost just over £60 for two nights ended up over £100 for one, plus the cost of the second hotel. It was the worst experience we've had, and such a shame. Getting into the building took 20 minutes, despite ringing repeatedly, using the doorbell and knocking. The owner's son answered, called his parents to ask where to put us, then showed us to a room until his dad arrived. The owner later knocked and said we had to change rooms. In the hallway, at 8:30pm, in pouring rain with children, he demanded another £40 in cash or said we couldn't stay. We had no choice but to pay, and got no receipt. The room was in poor condition, with dirty, stained sheets, inadequate facilities and a serious damp problem. There were moisture absorbers in both the bedroom and bathroom, and the smell was the worst part. When we mentioned it, we were told not to be ridiculous because it was his home and was fine.
