This place was filthy. There was no hot water in two of the rooms, and only one tap worked. The third room wasn't much better. I saw no fire extinguishers anywhere in the building, there were gaps around the doors, and a light switch was hanging from the ceiling. Cleaners had left all the rubbish at the bottom of the stairs. We'd have felt safer and had more amenities in a tent on the beach. Cheap and cheerful would be an improvement. This place should be closed.

The weekend only improved when we finally left. We found there was no hot water anywhere, just cold, and eight rooms had to share one toilet and shower. The woman described as the manager had an attitude and tried to intimidate another couple. Their hairdryer had tripped the electricity on Saturday, and we were moved to a tiny, dirty room after refusing another room with bunk beds. There were huge cracks in the wall that looked like subsidence, and the windows had 'Help me' written on them, apparently not cleaned off for years. We contacted staff about it and nothing was done. This wasn't even the hotel I'd booked. On the day I was due to collect the keys, I got a text telling me to go to the blue sea office. When we arrived that night, the place looked like a second hand furniture shop. The guy said there was a problem with my online booking because it showed bunk beds, then changed them and said there was a double and a single. The place we were meant to stay, maryport marras, had looked okay in the pictures, but we now know those photos were taken years ago. The front door was stiff and took about five minutes to open. We were greeted with singing, which we found amusing, and the room window was open to get rid of the damp smell. There were no amenities at all. There was a floor heater bolted to the wall above the radiator, which seemed bizarre. Since the heating wasn't on, my partner tried plugging it in, and it cut the power to the whole floor. The place was dirty, damp and disgusting, a death trap.

We were on the very top floor in room 8, and the hot water tap was broken, so there was no hot water. The shower had no holder and just hung down, meaning you had to hold it. There was no kettle or tea and coffee, and no TV on the stand. The fire door had a large gap at the bottom, which seemed dangerous and a fire hazard. We got through four unbearable nights. This place needs a full refurbishment and should be closed down. I wouldn't recommend it or stay again, even for free. Absolutely awful, be warned. I've booked a luxury holiday flat for our August stay.

The room was damp and cold, with mould on the bed, and I couldn't stay in it. I had to change on a carry bag and go straight out. The sink only had cold water, the window was rotten and mouldy, and part of the ceiling had fallen onto the unwashed sheets. The carpet was meant to be green but was jet black. A friend had booked a one night stay in October. The pictures, which looked about 60 years old, seemed decent, but I couldn't believe the state of the place when we arrived. I went to the office where you collect keys and raised it with the manager. He said, “your in Blackpool love what do you expect”. I told him I couldn't possibly sleep in a mouldy bed in a damp, cold room. He said he didn't know what I was talking about and would send someone to investigate. A cleaner who lived at the property came to the office and looked at the room with me. She agreed it wasn't the best room and apologized for the inconvenience. Back at the office, the manager agreed to refund me so we could book elsewhere. That was in OCTOBER. I've emailed and called, but nobody has answered my complaint, and I still haven't received the refund. It may have been a small amount, but that's not the point. The manager is very unprofessional, and the hotel is disgusting, like his attitude. I emailed again asking for a reply and the refund. This place should be closed down. Thank goodness I didn't catch anything serious. Across the road was a beautiful hotel, I forget the name, but the building was pink or red. The manager there was excellent and offered us a room with breakfast. It was amazing, much better than this poor excuse for a hotel. Stay clear, guys, major health hazard.

There's no option for minus stars, which is a shame, because this place is disgusting. The online pictures DO NOT show what you actually get. I don't understand reviews mentioning staff when the place was unmanned and nobody was there. We had to collect the key from another hotel. Our room was filthy, with stained, dirty bedding, squashed flies on the wall and marks on the radiators. Nearly all the lights had no bulbs. The shared bathroom was absolutely disgusting, with piss all over the floor. A homeless hostel would have better standards. This place needs closing down!
