The Albany Hotel

The staff were amazing, polite, caring and clearly working hard to build this into a lovely hotel. The room was clean and warm, and the bed was the comfiest ever. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel’s in a handy spot for the square, town and Coral Island, and it was fairly quiet. Our room was clean, we got a lovely welcome, and staff regularly checked whether we needed toiletries or more refreshments. The cleaner was helpful and always stopped for a chat. The owner was reachable by mobile or at the hotel and tried to sort out any problems. We had a small leak on our last night after very heavy rain, through no fault of the owner. They’re fairly new to running the hotel, and I think it’ll be good quality with time. We were allowed to check in early, and my gran’s accessibility needs were accommodated. There’s no breakfast, but you can eat at the buffet next door. That didn’t bother us, as there are always plenty of places to eat out. Thanks, Albany.

The bed was comfortable and the room and hotel were clean, but that’s about the only good I can say. The bathroom light switch was by the room entrance, nowhere near the bathroom, and the shower was coming off the wall, as if someone had tried to stick it back with No More Nails. Over four days we got no fresh towels, and had to find our own toilet roll because reception was never staffed.

The location’s ideal for tourists looking for entertainment, and the reception seemed organised, with a fish tank under the desk. The outside looked promising and gave Under the Sea vibes. I’m a Sebastian stan myself. The room was humid even with the window open, and the bed was rough to sleep on. The TV worked well, though its cable was exposed through a hole in the ceiling corner. The WiFi was inconsistent and weak, like my marriage and my ex-wife. The tenants above us were noisy, which was a bruh moment. Also, the toilet door had no lock, which felt kind of sus. Great location, mediocre rooms.
