Christine greeted us warmly, talked us through everything, and answered all our questions. It’s a friendly family-run place, and everyone we met was lovely. We booked a superior twin room for our family of four. The building is old, with old pipework, but inside our room was neat, very clean, and decorated in a modern style, with a modern en-suite. From the outside, I worried we might be disappointed, but opening the room door changed my mind. It’s a little gem. We stayed two nights over Easter Weekend. Breakfast was included, with a made-to-order hot English breakfast or cereal, plus tea, coffee, and juice. For a smaller hotel rather than a big chain, that was more than enough for us. The English breakfast tasted good, especially the sausages, which were among the best I’ve had. I told the owners so. Transport links are very close, with tram and bus stops about a two-minute walk away. Parking is the downside. There’s a nearby pay-and-display car park, or you might find a free space on a side road. Even so, it’s great value and we’ll definitely stay again. Thanks to all the staff for the hard work and lovely hospitality. We’ll be back next time we’re in the area.

The people were lovely, but the hotel feels dated and could use some modernising. Our bed wasn’t right for our needs and really needs replacing or updating. The mattress was so poor that my fiancée ended up sleeping on the floor.

Christine was brilliant to deal with from booking right through to checkout, and her son Gary was lovely too. He makes great toast and is full of banter. Steve deserves thanks for a really tasty breakfast. This is a lovely family-run hotel, with a clean, nice room and a comfortable bed. We also had a good sea view. We were very happy here for the weekend and would book again. Many thanks, Mick and Becky Ball.

The hosts were so helpful and went out of their way to make things work for us. Our room was comfortable, and breakfast lived up to what we’d been told to expect. I can’t fault the place and would definitely stay again.

Toni and I stayed at the Maples over the bank holiday and had a lovely time. The owners were friendly and nice, the rooms were clean, and the English breakfast was good too. We’re looking forward to coming back soon.
