The breakfast we paid for never really happened. At 9am there was a note saying the manager had been called away and to text if we needed anything. When we asked a staff member about breakfast, they seemed lost. We said we'd have our breakfast money back, but were told the manager didn't want to be woken up and wouldn't refund it. Two rooms weren't ready when we arrived, which we didn't mind. Once we got in, the floors hadn't been hovered, there was poo on the toilet, urine stains on the pedestal, and the shower was filthy. Our daughter and son-in-law's room didn't have a kettle, and there was no staff around to ask. Don't go there. It was a dump, and I've had more hospitality in a vacant house with squatters. Bloody awful place.

The Maydor is right on the front and within walking distance of most places, so I suppose it wasn't all bad. The staff were friendly enough, but when I asked for a free breakfast to make up for the hotel switch, I got a stern look and a firm no. You get what you pay for, right? I'd originally booked the harlsden, then was told it was double booked and that we'd have to stay at their sister hotel, the Maydor. They told us where it was, but we couldn't find it down the road. When I phoned, they said there was no name on the front because it had recently been took over. We eventually found our way inside.

The smell was the worst part. It made us feel nauseous and sick, and eager to leave. The bathrooms were mouldy and barely had room, while the lighting was dingy and the stairs creaked. The beds looked antique, the sheets seemed unwashed, and there was mess all around. It felt like the rooms had never been cleaned, with decades of grime and dust. We wondered what we'd caught there. The Maydor's online photos look okay and the rooms are described as well made, but once inside, the reality was grim. If you want somewhere luxurious to unwind for the week, heed my advice and be wary. Book with an open mind and pray you'll make it through.

The man who helped us was really nice and helpful, and I'd thought the place seemed okay for a no-frills B&B. The rooms changed my mind. My en-suite bathroom was disgusting, had no towels, and the floor was duey. The room needed a proper clean. In the other room, the bed blocked the door from opening, and my daughter found hairs in the bed. We'd booked breakfast and went down at 9:30. A sign said the manager had been called away and to text if we needed anything. A man came through around 9:40 to make breakfast, but there was no butter for the toast. I was there with my four kids, and the cups had pink lipstick marks on them, which made me feel sick. We got up and left. I wish I'd never gone. Don't trust the photos, it doesn't look like that.

There was no working bathroom light, some doors were faulty, and the kids' bunk beds felt unstable. There were no curtains, so people could see right through and there was no privacy. We had to share a bathroom because our room had no shower. There was no kettle, TV, towels or soap in the bedrooms, either. The staff were friendly, but this was by far the worst hotel I've stayed in, and not worth what I paid for the night. Harlsden hotel had called to say they'd double booked and booked me into this hotel instead. I stayed here last night and was very shocked.
