The staff were lovely and really easy to chat to. Nathan and a couple of the others shared a few giggles with me. The rooms were the weak point, dated and worn, and one of them was absolutely freezing. They are in the middle of a refurbishment, though. Our bed was super comfortable. I wanted to take the mattress home. Thanks, guys. Lorna x

The staff member who greeted us was friendly, but there wasn't enough staff support after that, and some of the others were rude. The shower was broken, the TV didn't work properly, and the evening entertainment was loud and rowdy, not suitable for families as advertised. The area felt a little rough, though the location may suit you if you like long walks. After a five-hour drive, I got the kids ready for bed and ordered pizza since we had to be up early for an event. When I returned with the food, there was a printed notice saying, "no food beyond this point". A staff member eventually let me take the pizza upstairs on that occasion, as long as I brought the rubbish down straight away. But we'd booked Friday through Sunday, and not being able to keep food in the room with the kids was a problem. Later, I noticed dried blood on the top sheet. I went down to report it and said the children were already asleep. They changed it the next day when I asked, but it was very noticeable. It made for the worst night's sleep I'd had, and the beds were uncomfortable too. At 5:30 on Sunday morning, someone tried to get into our room quite aggressively. My husband and I were awake with the children because we had to leave for our event at 6:30. The banging didn't stop, so my husband opened the door to see what was happening as the kids were getting scared. He was shocked and panicked to see a very intoxicated woman crouched outside our room, apparently undressing. I called reception, but got an "oh ok". When I said it was far from okay with two young children there, they said they'd check the cameras. Nobody came up or checked whether we or the children were alright. My husband checked the route to the exit, and we decided to check out early. We felt safer waiting with the kids in a cafe until the event. We won't stay again or recommend this hotel. People we'd told from the event said I should have asked for some money back, but after the lack of help and the way our concerns were handled, it seemed pointless. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The dining room has a nice view of the sea, and breakfast was really good with plenty to choose from. Staff were friendly, and there's a well-stocked bar with evening entertainment and bingo. The hotel is right on the seafront, with a tram stop outside that makes getting around easier if walking is difficult.

I went last November and found the staff lovely and helpful. The room was standard, and some of the decor could do with updating, but it wasn't dirty. The hotel is a bit far from things, though the walk toward the tower with all the lights was lovely, and the distance meant it wasn't very noisy at night. There was a woman singing for the evening entertainment. I can't remember her name, but she was welcoming with the kids. I plan to return later this year.

We booked two nights but had to cut our stay short and book into the lovely hotel next door. There were drunken people asleep at reception, lights weren't working, there was no shower, the beds were broken and there was no air con. When we returned for our things after booking a new room, the shampoo and conditioner had been taken from the bathroom. We got no response when we raised these problems with reception. They said we'd booked through booking.com and it was their problem, which is ridiculous when they're taking money from guests and should be maintaining standards. Now that they know we've reviewed them on booking.com, they've replied by threatening legal action and demanding £5000 or that we remove the post. My partner felt intimidated. I'm disgusted by how they treat paying customers. Please stay clear of this place. You'd probably get better and cleaner service in a local toilet.
