The Rockley Hotel

We left a day early, and the stay ruined our anniversary. The place was unclean and drab, and the host gave the impression they couldn’t be bothered. Breakfast was cold, self service, and served from a broken bain Marie. I didn’t even dare put the milk in my tea, and we had to buy food elsewhere. I wouldn’t book through booking.com, as you won’t be able to get your money back. This has to be the worst place I’ve stayed.

For the price, this budget hotel was just what we needed for one night. The room was small but warm, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was lovely, and the hosts were friendly and pleasant. It’s right in the middle of Blackpool, about a 5 minute walk from the tower, seafront and shops, and 10-15 minutes from Blackpool FC. There was no bin in the room and no spoon with the cups and kettle. We didn’t need towels or ask for any, though none were provided.

On Christmas Eve, the rockley hotel threw me and my 71 year old mother out after refusing my complaint about the lack of cleanliness, space, heat and facilities. The current owner, Sam, was rude and insulting. Graham no longer owns the hotel, and Sam is using the previous owners’ photos and descriptions, even though things are very different.

Graham, who manages the place, was the one positive. He was happy to help and made a great breakfast. The location was perfect for work and very close to the shopping 🛍 centre. The owner has a more modern b n b two doors down the road, and this place would probably do for a stag or hen do. But I probably wouldn’t recommend staying here. The furniture needs refurbishment, the breakfast room chairs need replacing, and the stair bannister felt sticky. My twin room, Room 2, was ridiculously hot even with the window open, and probably the smallest twin room known to man. The bedroom furniture was broken, and the shower couldn’t be adjusted without it coming away from the wall and ending up in your hand, so don’t touch anything!
