Buckinghamshire Arms

The roast beef is our usual pick, and it’s beautifully pink and so tender, with none of those chewy slices. Portions are big enough that I often leave with a doggy bag, and the Yorkshire puds are great too. We’ve come back several times for Sunday roast and it’s been fantastic each visit. Sundays get busy, so booking ahead is necessary for us, but the food comes quickly and is fabulous. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a proper roast.

It’s in a great spot by NT Blickling Hall, and the staff were welcoming and attentive. There’s a wide choice on the menu, with good quality food, and most dishes can be made gluten free. They mark dairy free options too, and all the fryers are gluten free, which is great for someone with coeliac disease. I really enjoyed the GF fish and chips. It can fill up on popular dates, so book ahead.

After our walk around the Blinkling Estate to see the bluebells, we had a delicious meal. Service was spot on and the portions were generous. All seven of us enjoyed the visit, and I’d highly recommend it.

The food here is absolutely superb, which is why the poor service on our last visit was such a letdown. It was my third time at the Bucks Arms, and the earlier visits had been amazing. This time the staff seemed less friendly than usual, and no one checked back on our mains. The sweet menu was brought over without a smile, then it took 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Another 20 minutes later, with the restaurant nearly empty, the desserts came out bit by bit. We were all disappointed, since this is one of our favourite restaurants. 3 stars.
