Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel

The cleaning team, Vanessa, Kirsty, Jen and Tracy, kept our room very clean and freshly prepared each day from 13th-17th October 25. Thank you, ladies. Lydia looked after breakfast, where the service was excellent and the dining area was neat and clean. The reception ladies were friendly and accommodating with our group's needs, and Irene was lovely and helpful in the bar and dining area. The other bar staff member working on Thursday 16th evening was also very helpful and professional, though I didn't catch her name. Great customer service across the hotel. Every staff member I spoke with was friendly and helpful 🙂. Some areas could do with attention, though: the room and restaurant looked tired, and the toilet roll was extremely cheap. It made me wonder what else might have been skimped on.

The hotel is handy for where I needed to be, and the public areas were spotless. Staff were friendly and respectful, and the morning receptionist helped me print a very important document. I plan to stay again in a few weeks, so this trip hasn't put me off. There were several letdowns. When we arrived and asked about food, we were told there was no chef, so only kit food was available. Our room was very dated and needed freshening up, with minor repairs done poorly. Shower pressure was weak, though the water was hot enough. Breakfast had plenty of cereal and toast, but no hot buffet. We could order hot food from a staff member, but it had been sitting under the hot plate rather than freshly cooked. The black pudding was rock hard, the sausages overdone on one side, the beans seemed lukewarm, and the bacon was dry.

Getting here from Knutsford was easy, and the welcome at reception was lovely. The staff were great, and it was a great venue for today's event. Thank you, Louisa Well-being Academy.
