The Bolton Stadium Hotel, a member of Radisson Individuals

We showed up a year before our booking by mistake, thanks to my error on booking.com. The man behind check-in was understanding and found us a room without charging extra. He also managed to cancel the 2027 booking on booking.com. Great service, would recommend.

The staff were wonderful, and the bathroom and toiletries were excellent. Our room was okay, though on the small side, and some of the furnishings felt a bit cheap. The pizza was fantastic, and room service was friendly. Breakfast let the place down badly. Milk ran out and wasn’t replaced promptly, tables stayed uncleared, and we had to ask for cutlery. There wasn’t much choice of cereal or bread, just sliced white or brown. Very average, maybe 4 out of 10.

The bedroom had quite a lot of dust along the right side of the bed, which was disappointing. But the bar had a lovely atmosphere after the match, even though it was very busy, and the staff were lovely. Breakfast the next morning was lovely. I had a self-service English breakfast with toast, and everything was piping hot and fresh. They kept topping it up regularly, with lots of guests staying at the hotel.

The hotel itself is fine, but I won’t stay here again, and our business group will avoid it for dinner too. I rang three times to add another night and was told I’d get a call back, but nobody ever called. When I went to reception in person, they said they were fully booked and so didn’t bother returning calls. Great customer service! We booked another local hotel instead.
