The breakfast was really good, especially the fresh berries, which earned the place one extra star from me. The room itself was missing a refrigerator, and the dental kit cost extra instead of being provided in the room. The main problem was that I was given a much smaller room than I had booked. I reserved a “Standard Country House Double with Garden View”, described and pictured with two large windows, two armchairs and a table, on the 1st or 2nd floor. What I got was a “Small Double Room” on the 3rd floor, with one small window and no armchairs or table. It was clearly a lower category and quite different from what I chose. The reception manager said the hotel was full and they couldn't move me. At check-in, the reception manager also wouldn't hand over the keys until I put my email address in a notebook. I had to provide it, which seemed like a privacy and personal data protection issue.

The room was tidy and clean, with the things we needed, and the breakfast had a very good range of options. We only stayed one night, but the staff were friendly and accommodating despite our last-minute booking. The main drawback was poor reception for both the phone signal and TV, which only had BBC1.

The location worked well for walking to bars and restaurants. We had a great stay: the room was really spacious, clean and comfortable, and check-in was great. The lounge and breakfast area were lovely too. Breakfast was amazing, with fabulous service from a very friendly team. I'd definitely recommend it 😀.

Room 22 was lovely and cozy, and absolutely immaculate. It had an iron and board, hairdryer, fan and all toiletries, and the price felt like a steal. The owner, an elderly gentleman, and his grandson are lovely, and they run the accommodation to a very high standard. All the staff were courteous and friendly. We've stayed at almost all the hotels in bowness on windermere over the past 15 years, almost as a hobby, and this one is a hidden gem. It's right in the heart of bowness, just behind the Bellsfield hotel. We'll most definitely return. I don't usually bother writing reviews, but I know lots of people read them, so I felt I had to recommend this hotel to everybody.

Melinda was really helpful and attentive, and James was very nice and attentive too. We had an enjoyable two-night stay at Burn how garden hotel. They gave us a great welcome and let us check in early. Breakfast was lovely and had everything we needed. Thanks!
