The White Hart Hotel

We had a wonderful three-course set meal at the 'Marco Pierre White' restaurant in the hotel. The rooms were lovely, parking was easy, and it’s only a short walk to the town center. We stayed overnight to meet up with special friends and received friendly, helpful service all the way from check-in through checkout. A special thank you to Gracy, who was so friendly and professional, and gave us such attentive service. She’s a real credit to the hotel. I’d recommend staying here and would come back.

The hotel is lovely, and the food was excellent. Breakfast in particular was delicious. There were some issues, though. The fridge in room 112 didn’t work, but I didn’t report it because we didn’t want to be disturbed. The £10 nightly parking charge also felt steep and unnecessary. Service was uneven. A nearby table had already waited ages before we were seated, yet our drinks and starters came quickly. Training could be more consistent. One evening waitress with red hair and piercings was fantastic, friendly, efficient and professional. The others could learn a lot from her. At breakfast, the waitress of Oriental appearance was also great, very attentive and helpful. On Saturday another waitress told me to ask the chef for boiled eggs, but no chef was around, so the excellent waitress stepped in. Both mornings I asked for hard-boiled eggs, but they came overdone with black centres. I also saw some chefs serving food with their hands, then touching their hair or wiping their noses with the backs of their hands. That wasn’t reassuring, and one waitress had long hair left untied.

A great family stay. Our Privilege room was spacious and had a balcony. It was lovely and quiet, and made a good base for exploring beautiful Somerset.

We stayed over Christmas and had a good experience. The rooms were nice, with a big comfortable bed, blackout curtains, thick windows and impressive soundproofing. The modern amenities were good too. Desk security seemed solid, and you need a card to get into the building and use the lifts. A great place to stay when visiting Bridgwater or the surrounding area.
