We stayed for Valentine’s Day and the room was clean, well stocked, and had everything we needed. The host was so lovely, I wish I’d asked their name. When we had an issue with the iron, they went out and bought one for us, and even gave us a rose for Valentine’s. Check-in was easy, our questions got answered quickly, and everyone was so polite and welcoming. Would recommend!

I spent three nights here over New Year’s and was surprised how easy it was to get around Kemptown. Beck, the manager, was friendly and happy to help. My room was neat and clean, with complimentary tea and coffee and a TV. The shared showers and toilets were clean too. Having my own key meant I could come and go whenever I liked, and it felt like my own place. The sea view from the window was beautiful, and there were plenty of good places nearby to explore, including the pier. It’s a great place if you’re going out a lot and just need somewhere comfortable to come back and rest. Thanks, Beck. I’ll be back, I love Brighton!

The location of Hamptons Brighton is handy, with coffee shops, markets, and a bus stop right outside. The bed and linen looked clean and comfortable, but the rest of the room didn’t feel clean. There were toiletries left by previous guests in the bathroom, and the cups and cutlery looked dirty and unwashed. The staff seemed friendly, but the advertised daily housekeeping didn’t happen, and it was hard to find anyone. That also made check-in difficult. For somewhere advertised as a hotel, the quality felt more like a hostel.

The sea views and being so close to the water were the best parts. Waking up to the ocean was refreshing, and the location is fantastic. But we wouldn’t return. At £90 a night we expected more comfort and convenience. Reception was in a separate building, which was a hassle, and the converted council house didn’t have the warm hotel feel we’d hoped for. Our basic room had no double glazing, so it was chilly, and the blinds let in too much light. It also seemed like university students lived downstairs, and their parties went on through the night, making sleep difficult.

The neighborhood is nice, but my room is nothing like the photos. I checked in just a few hours ago, and now that it’s dark I’ve found that none of the lights work, leaving me in total darkness. There’s one single bed and it’s too short for me. My room is above the entrance, so it’s cold because the outer door is always open, and there’s no extra blanket. People keep slamming that door, which shakes the room. The office is closed, and no one has replied to my email. There’s barely any toilet paper either, so bring your own. This is more like a hostel, though even hostels have working lights. I don’t plan to stay the other two nights I booked unless management can do something.
