Penny was a gracious host who went out of her way to suggest places to eat and things to see, even marking them on a map for us. We spent four nights here with family, and it was the highlight of our whole England trip. The grounds are pretty, the staff are friendly, and it’s a lovely place to relax and get away from it all. The best part for me was breakfast each morning, along with the amazing view of the English Channel. Even though we were the only guests, Penny offered us the full breakfast menu. Everything was delicious and the portions were generous. My favourite was the eggs on sourdough with smoked salmon. I’d recommend Raddicombe Lodge to anyone staying nearby.

A particularly good choice if you’re travelling with a dog. They’ve thought of all sorts of useful things for dog owners, with thoughtful touches throughout. The views are beautiful and the surroundings quiet. The hosts were welcoming and happy to cater for a gluten-free diet as well. Raddicombe Lodge is well placed for exploring the area, and we’d definitely recommend it.

Breakfast is made for you, with no soggy toast or limp bacon. The full breakfast is a big one, with excellent local bacon and black pudding, but you can ask for pretty much anything you fancy. In fine weather you can eat in the attractive garden. Dogs are welcome and understood. The team are very welcoming and know the area well. The rooms and guest lounges are comfortable, and the lodge sits on a hilltop with views along the coast.

I was lucky to find Raddicombe Lodge for my two-night stay while taking part in a nearby charity marathon hike. The location was perfect, and the bedrooms were clean, spacious, and really comfortable. Penny welcomed me warmly. When I mentioned I’d miss breakfast on my first morning because of an early start, she immediately asked what time I wanted it. That was so thoughtful. Penny and Neil were both excellent hosts, nothing was too much trouble, and I’ll certainly consider booking again when I’m in the area.

Penny and Niel were wonderful hosts, and so friendly to our labrador. There were thoughtful extras around the place, like dog towels by the front door and good-quality tea and biscuits in the room. The staff’s warm, friendly manner really made us feel at home. Our room was clean, lovely, and very comfortable, and the shower was so good I want one at home. Breakfast was absolutely stonking: a great range, just-right portions, and everything cooked to order with local ingredients. It tasted lovely. I’d highly recommend staying here if you’re near Brixham or Paignton, both roughly a 10-minute drive away. Mac the kabrador recommends it too.
