Colin and Jackie were such lovely hosts, friendly, fun and full of useful tips and advice. We were glad we chose the Melville for our first visit to Brixham. The hotel was spotless, had great facilities and was only a few minutes' walk from the harbour. Breakfast was another highlight. Colin cooked each one individually to perfection, and they catered for my wife's gluten intolerance. You fill in a form the day before with your choices and a time slot, then breakfast is brought to your table soon after you sit down. There are good parking spaces out front too. Booking directly through their website costs less than using a booking company. Highly recommended, and we hope to come back.

This was our third stay, and Colin and Jackie always make us feel welcome. The rooms are spotless, breakfast is excellent, and it's ideally located for the town, harbour and buses to other resorts. Free parking right outside the front door is a big plus, as is being on the main road into town. We also come for the great local pubs and restaurants, with something to suit everyone. We especially enjoyed At Thai, Olive and The Golden Lion, among others. We'll definitely be back.

We loved the Superior room, especially having our own lounge, on our three-day break at our favourite harbour town, Brixham, at the end of June. It was our first time at The Melville. Colin and Jackie were wonderful hosts the whole way through, friendly and helpful, with great breakfast service and food. This will be our go-to place next time we're in the area. Recommended.

Colin and Jackie are great hosts, and everything from the clean, comfortable bed to the lovely breakfast and ideal location was spot on. The little touches show they care about their guests. There was fresh milk and a mini fridge, and after we had jam with our toast one day, it was already on the table the next morning. It may sound small, but it means a lot. We'll definitely return.

The rooms and breakfast were lovely, and so were the hosts. We hadn't visited for at least four years, but Colin and Jackie still remembered us and made us feel very welcome.
