The cottage was built in the 1600s, and its quirky character really made the stay. It was exceptionally clean, with everything thought of, and the service was brilliant. The staff couldn’t do more for us, and breakfast was amazing. Just be ready for a very steep staircase if your room is upstairs. The location is perfect for the station, buses, pubs and restaurants. You must try Alberto, the Italian restaurant, you won’t be disappointed. We’ve already booked again for March after a fabulous three night stay.

The hotel, room, service and food were all beautiful, and the location was central to everything. Noise was the one major problem, though, and we had only two hours of sleep on Friday night before going to buy earplugs on Saturday. We were in darjeerling, a ground floor room, and could hear chairs being dragged and pans dropped in the kitchen next door. There was also music from the pub beside us, road noise, and what sounded like two men fighting at 2am. The upstairs neighbours were amorous too, though I won’t go into details. I know it’s a 400 year old property and accept there may be some limits to soundproofing, but this was just too noisy for us. Perhaps it was that particular room.

A real gem, with beautiful rooms, a wonderful welcome and an amazing breakfast. The staff were lovely, and they even gave our dog sausages at breakfast without accepting payment for them. It’s right in the heart of Brickenhurst, with free parking and easy access to the station and the forest. I couldn’t recommend it more.

The team were so friendly and welcoming, and everything was extremely clean. The weekend was fantastic, with homemade cookies and cakes lovingly made. Pubs and restaurants are an easy walk away. Highly recommended, 5*.
