We only stopped in for dinner, and it was lovely. We weren’t very hungry, so the chef kindly made us a fish finger and a club sandwich from the lunch menu. Both were really nice, and the service was friendly.

The Sunday lunch was really impressive, as were the service and the venue. There’s a good-sized car park, and it’s an easy walk from the centre of Burnham Market. We’ll be back.

The chippie was closed, so while staying in Burnham Market we gave The Nelson a try for fish and chips. They fit us in with just five minutes’ notice, dog and all. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, the service quick and polite, and the food tasty and well cooked. I couldn’t finish all my scampi. We’d definitely come again.

The room was spacious and had free WiFi, plus a welcome information leaflet, but it needs better upkeep. The bathroom lock was broken, there were cobwebs in the bathroom and hanging from the bedroom ceiling, and the mattresses were poor quality. The rooms have potential, but maintenance is letting them down. They also need properly fitted curtains, ideally blackout ones, and voiles for privacy since the windows look onto the pub car park.

The vegetarian choices are good, and the food and staff were lovely. I ate here two nights in a row. Last year it was dire, but there are new owners now and things are good.
