Westmead Hotel

The hotel itself is pleasant, but some staff made the stay disappointing. A few seemed disengaged, standing around talking instead of helping guests. The service felt slow and unprofessional, and left me with the impression that some employees didn’t want to be there.

The buffet was fabulous, and DJ Paul Shenton kept everyone on their toes on the superb dance floor. We celebrated my wife's 50TH Birthday at the Westmead Hotel, and everything worked out first class, from the venue and function room to the parking, access and food. Some family and friends booked rooms and breakfast too, at discounted rates through the function. Thank you all so much, we couldn't fault it.

The long waits made our first pub Christmas dinner a bad experience. We were there for about three hours, and the customer service wasn't good. We usually stay home and cook, but booked a three course meal at Westmead hotel for £80. We waited an hour for starters while some tables already had their mains and others were still waiting for starters. Then it was almost 50 minutes before our mains arrived. Waiting for dessert was a joke too. We were getting our coats and ready to leave when a staff member said our desserts were next out of the kitchen, so we stayed. With a set menu, they should have served all the starters first, then mains, then desserts. Some people were already having dessert while we were still waiting for dinner. They need a better system for next year's Christmas dinner.

The rooms were okay, though they need a good update. The bathroom seemed to have no extraction and showed signs of damp, and the shower leaked more from the tap than the showerhead, just basic maintenance. The window handles were loose, so the windows didn't seem very secure. I went to a Christmas party with friends, and the party was good overall. The food was good for a mass catered event, and the veggies were actually cooked! Portions were on the small side, but hey ho. The DJ played a good selection, though didn't seem to know how to mix or fade tracks into each other, jumping between genres.
