Westgrange House B&B

Margaret was a fantastic host, and I had a great stay at this little B&B. The earlier reviews had made me a bit wary, but I thought it was lovely. I can see how someone expecting a Travelodge in the middle of town might complain, though. If you want somewhere small and quiet for a night or two away from it all, this is a good choice. If you want somewhere corporate and central, it probably isn't for you. Thanks for the stay, Margaret.

We couldn't feel confident about staying after seeing the place. The windows and drawn curtains were dirty, and it gave us the impression that the owner had moved out some time earlier. The owner showed me the room, but even though we'd already paid, she couldn't reassure me that the stay would be okay. We left and looked for somewhere else to stay.

Margaret was one of the best hostesses I've met. I loved the English breakfast too. The place feels very homely, just outside Canterbury, and I'd happily come back.

A lovely lady welcomed us, and the room seemed clean. The rest of the place raised concerns: the entrance door was hanging on one hinge with a book propping it, and the hall carpet was threadbare. There were faded plastic flowers in the hall window, and the staircase in the middle of the building felt incredibly creepy. One key opened both our room and the front door. I also saw no smoke alarms, fire signs or safety regulations. The furniture was very old and worn.
