We had a burger and calzone, plus two large roast dinners for the dogs. The portions were generous, especially the huge dog meals, and it was great value. The food was beautiful, the place spotless and the service fantastic even though they were busy. We’ll come back when we’re in the area again.

The food has always been top notch here, and the sticky toffee is the best around, which is a big reason I keep coming back. The place was amazing even before the big refurb, and it’s even better now. Staff have consistently been calm, polite and keen to help, and I can’t fault the restaurant. Callum is a great waiter and really makes an effort to please you as a paying customer. I don’t see the owner often, but whenever we do meet, he’s happy and polite. Well done on the consistently great service, keep it up 👌

We came as a family for a birthday meal and had a brilliant time. Every plate was cleared, and the pear, walnut and blue cheese salad was stunning. The staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. It is a little pricey, but the place has a great buzz and we’ll be back 😀

After more than 35 years as a customer, I won’t return while this car parking nonsense continues. A few weeks ago, I went to collect my husband after he’d been there with friends. There’s no other safe place to park, so I waited in the car park for 14 minutes. Yesterday I received a £100 parking charge. It’s disgraceful. Shame on The Royal for bringing in a money-making system that lets car park bullies go after patrons. I know plenty of others feel the same. That’s 35+ years of custom gone. Please don’t respond with rehearsed words. They mean nothing, and it feels like you don’t care, just tick a box and put something on a screen. I’d much rather see action and have this terrible scam of a system withdrawn. But that won’t happen while you’re getting a share of the profits, will it? It’s a win-win for you with no regard for your patrons. SHAMEFUL
