Crabwall Manor Hotel & Spa

For a one-night stay, it was acceptable. The room was modern and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and polite. The bathroom was disappointing, not as clean as it should have been and seeming unfinished. On arrival, the kettle lid was sitting on top of the toilet. The bar and restaurant shut earlier than advertised and had little atmosphere, so evening options were limited. Clearer information about their hours and better housekeeping would help, especially for business travellers.

I've stayed twice and would come back, though the price makes the neglected details harder to overlook. The carpets around the hotel are filthy and need replacing or a proper clean. There's mould in the bathroom, and the rusty bathroom bin could easily be swapped out, especially in a room costing £300. When we ordered room service, the food was lovely but arrived without cutlery, so we had to use the teaspoons in the room. On the plus side, the beds are so comfortable I slept like a baby, and the location is excellent and very quiet. The rooms are clean enough, though they could be better. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were friendly. I think it's a good hotel, but for what we paid, it feels like upkeep has been neglected for a long time.

This is only about afternoon tea. I used a gift card for my first visit, and the place happened to be nearby. I didn't enjoy it and won't return. The room was overcrowded, and the chair had a cover but no cushion, so as soon as I sat down I hit the wood. I changed chairs myself. The food was edible, just barely. At least there was Prosecco.

The people at breakfast helped make the stay: Christine, the Breakfast Supervisor, was friendly, organised and attentive, and kept things running smoothly with a welcoming feel in the dining room. John, the General Manager, was also professional and attentive, clearly proud of the hotel and keen to make guests feel looked after. The rest of the staff were welcoming and happy to answer questions from the moment we arrived. Our room was clean, comfortable and well presented, with everything we needed. The bed was especially comfortable, and it was quiet enough for a great night's sleep. Breakfast was a highlight, too. There are shops, restaurants and attractions close by, and the hotel felt well maintained with a great atmosphere. It was good value and made our trip more enjoyable. We'd happily return.
