The food was a real highlight. We tried five different meals, steak, gammon, fish pie, fish and chips, and a burger, and everyone enjoyed theirs. The chips were proper chips too. We followed that with five desserts; the crumble came in a generous portion, and the sticky toffee Christmas pudding was delicious. Our server, who took the orders and brought everything out, was fantastic all evening. My parents had suggested this pub for a meal and real ale. I got a little nervous after reading the reviews on the day of our booking, but it turned out not to disappoint. There were, I think, five Titanic beers and three guest ales. Inside had traditional pub decor and lovely Christmas lights, and we managed to find a space in the car park. I'd like to come back in daylight to enjoy the countryside.

The candles on the tables give this pub a lovely old-fashioned feel, and it’s well worth a visit. We’d been meaning to come for a while, then stopped in midweek around teatime after an afternoon out, looking for a drink and something to eat. It was chilly, so the wood fires were very welcome. The Titanic Brewery beer was excellent, and the food was good.

The Old Poets Corner puts on a great range of events, with plenty of different entertainment and food. We had a truly exceptional Burns night, with fabulous food, service and entertainment. It’s a quaint, characterful pub, and I’d recommend making time to visit. I’ve attached a couple of videos to show a little of what The Old Poet's Corner has to offer.

Such a cosy, welcoming village pub. Dave the landlord is easy to talk to, a bit cheeky, and clearly proud of the place. You can see that in the pub itself. The staff are great, and easy on the eyes too. The food is just what you want from pub grub.

The accommodation was clean and reasonably priced, and the meals came in good portions with healthy choices. Breakfast was fine, though it would have been nice to have cereal or fruit as options.
