Cleethorpes Pearl Holiday Park

The caravan was lovely, and the park was being kept tidy with the grass cut. The maintenance crew did a very good job. We stayed four nights. I can't comment on the pool as we didn't use it. The arcade had barely anything in it, so we came straight back out. I'm comparing it with other parks I've been to down south. We tried the onsite restaurant and regretted it. A group of staff were chatting at the bar, and I felt awkward interrupting them. A young woman took my order with a face that made me feel I'd said something offensive. I couldn't understand what she said, so I asked her to repeat it, but she used the same tone and expression, as though I should have understood a simple question. A man at the bar explained it was something about owners getting a discount on food. Our meals arrived five minutes later. The chicken seemed reheated but was cold, the salad had browned, and the chips looked as if they'd been cooked over and over, though at least they were hot. I worried the meal would make me ill and couldn't finish it, so we left it. Nobody came to check if the food was alright or collect our plates. I didn't want to go back to the bar and be glared at again. The meal was very overpriced. I'm used to parks down south where things cost more, and would expect it there, but not here. Nothing against away resort, we'd been with them before and were happy with everything in cornwall.

The site was well kept and had a good atmosphere, and we loved relaxing in the heated outdoor pool after a day out. The new lifeguard we met on our last day was especially friendly and welcoming. Our Oakwood caravan at Cleethorpes Pearl felt like a home away from home, with everything we needed for a comfortable short break. The outdoor decking was lovely, though a table out there for meals in warm weather would've been handy. The clubhouse was the one letdown. The staff, especially security, were unfriendly, and the space felt dim and dated. Even so, we highly recommend it for a great value family getaway.

I booked this stay a year ahead after a very satisfying previous visit, when I left a positive review. I rebooked for 9 March for four days, partly because of the 15% discount for booking on site. Four days before arrival, reception called to say there'd be no entertainment, the pool would be closed, and the park would stay fully closed until 16 March. I hadn't been told about this when I booked, and it badly affected what I'd expected from the holiday. One staff member said they hadn't known about the closure. Another said the manager knew and had called me back to offer a refund. A refund didn't work for us because I'd already booked train tickets and taken time off work. The manager's indifferent response made us feel unappreciated. I've chosen a different park for our next holiday. The caravan itself was lovely. The heating worked, the bedding was fresh, and having two bathrooms and a TV in the room was appreciated. The Wi-Fi we paid extra for worked well, but the exterior light by the caravan was broken, leaving it quite dark at night. With the pool, entertainment and park attractions unavailable, I feel badly let down by the lack of customer care and any compensation. I felt undervalued as a customer, which matters a lot to me. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and helps improve future guests' stays. Thank you for your attention.

We've hired different caravans here several times over the past couple of years, and they've all been top notch. The park is quieter and has fewer facilities than places like Haven, but still has everything families with younger children need. We really like it. Give it a try.
