The Coniston Hotel and Country Estate

We only stayed one night for a birthday, but had such a good time that we'd happily return. Breakfast had lots to choose from and was just as nice as our delicious festive dinner. Everyone we met on staff was polite and friendly, and the reception team welcomed us warmly when we arrived. Our room was ready at 12:30pm, even though our early check-in was for 1pm. We'd booked a Dales room, which was lovely and spacious, with a view over the lake. The huge bed was very comfortable. The spa was nice and quiet, the infinity jacuzzis were lovely and warm, and the saunas were great. I did find the pool a bit cool, though my wife swam, so maybe I'm just a wimp! The bar had a cozy feel, and we met the owner, Mr Bannister, who was a real gentleman. We'd definitely recommend a visit. Hopefully we'll be back, and I'd love to try the Clay shooting next time.

Our daughter gave us a few days away for my husband's 50th birthday, and she did good! From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming and full of helpful information. The room was lovely and absolutely spotless, and the food tasted amazing and clearly very fresh. Ryan, the manger, even treated us to a glass of fizz and sat down for a chat. We had a wonderful few days and will be back.

Jen and Jess made the whole wedding weekend feel easy and special, from Jen's good morning text to helping hold my dress in the rain. They were organised, calm, attentive, and kept us clearly informed, so we could relax knowing everything was in safe hands. They also ran the celebration the night before, looking after, feeding and keeping drinks flowing for our 50 closest family and friends. We had our wedding at St Peter’s Church and The Coniston Hotel & Spa on 6th December 2025. The Yorkshire Dales looked gorgeous and festive for a winter wedding, and the hotel felt warm, elegant and welcoming. Our guests kept telling us how beautiful the venue was. Bobtale Photography, Sky Weddings, Rose & Bloom Florist, Creative, Nala and Knot, Reflections, Perfect Cakes all took our winter wedding vision and Pinterest board beyond what I'd dreamed of. The wedding breakfast and evening catering were both incredible, and lots of guests complimented the food. Service was friendly, efficient and perfectly timed throughout. Thank you to the whole team, especially the ladies on Reception, Mel, Jordan, Rachel, Jen, Jess and Tim. We couldn't have picked a better venue, and will treasure the magical day Jen and Jess helped give us. Thank you to the Bannister Family for sharing the hotel and for your kind words during our wedding weekend.

My sister and I had a lovely overnight birthday stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the food we tried was delicious. The spa is beautiful, with the best jacuzzi views I've ever seen! There are some great winter offers, and I'd happily go back.
