Mercure London Gatwick

The staff really stood out during our stay at Travelodge Gatwick on 18/05/26. They were phenomenal, friendly, helpful, and couldn't do enough for us, making us feel genuinely welcome. The room was spotless and well looked after, with excellent air conditioning to keep it cool and comfortable. It was spacious, and the beds gave us a great night's sleep before travelling. Free Blue Badge parking was a great help too. A couple of small things could be improved: the toilet paper could be thicker, and although cups were provided, glasses or tumblers would have been a nice addition. Neither would stop us coming back. We'd definitely return.

The friendly, professional reception staff made check-in feel smooth and welcoming, and both the hotel and bathrooms were clean and well kept. It's conveniently located about 10 minutes from the airport, with a shuttle every 15 minutes. A ticket is £4.5 each way, which felt reasonable and was easy to use. The free Wi-Fi only lasts 30 minutes, after that extra access costs money. Longer free access would be better, though I managed fine. For a short stay near Gatwick Airport, it's a good option.

The breakfast was consistently good, and the breakfast team were professional. On my seventh visit, the hotel is still keeping its standards high. Caroline and the front desk team were friendly, efficient, and welcoming, setting a great tone as soon as I arrived. I had a spacious, clean, comfortable family room on the sixth floor. The coffee machine and air-conditioning were lifesavers after a long travel day, and both worked perfectly. I also spotted the robot cleaner doing its rounds in the corridor, a fun sign of how modern the hotel is becoming. The car park usually costs extra, but the ANPR camera system was out of order this time, so I didn't have to pay, an unexpected bonus. Another excellent stay at Gatwick Airport Travelodge. Highly recommended.

I booked a room for July 7th before my Gatwick flight. The next day, the airline cancelled the flight completely, so I no longer had any reason to go to London and had to travel by a different route. I asked for a refund immediately, just one day after booking and a full month before check-in, leaving plenty of time to rebook the room. Management refused both a refund and any goodwill waiver. They gave no explanation or alternative, just a flat no. Given the location and the month's notice, I think they will almost certainly sell the room again. This isn't a cancellation dispute. I feel the hotel is choosing to keep payment for a stay that became unnecessary through circumstances entirely outside my control, which I reported right away and with ample time for them to resell it. Premier Inn and Hampton by Hilton are better options near Gatwick that treat guests with basic decency. I won't be back.
