The George Hotel, Crewkerne

The rooms are cosy, with en-suite bathrooms, and breakfast is included with a good range of menu choices. The staff were friendly too. This is clearly an old coaching inn, probably from the 17th century or earlier, and you can see how it has changed over time. What seem to have been stables are now little shops and a cafe. Even the hand-built stairs up to the first floor have their quirks, with most steps a different height. Would I stay again? Yes, I like that slightly quirky feel.

The food was lovely, and you can't beat a proper roast dinner. Great drinks and excellent customer service, with plenty of smiles. I'll be back soon, thank you!

I felt at home as soon as I arrived at The George Hotel in Crewkerne. The welcome was genuinely warm, and the whole place has a friendly feel. The new manager seems to have brought in a positive energy, and the team were attentive, professional, and always smiling. You can tell they care about guests. Food came quickly without losing any quality. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared, and the portions and prices made for very good value. It’s a lovely spot for a relaxed meal or drink, whether you live nearby or are just passing through. I’ll be back.
