The Manor Hotel

My wife and I went for lunch and it was awful. My bread was soggy with mushrooms dumped on top, and her food was stone cold. We tried ringing the bell to let the server know, but it didn't work, so we left. The white tablecloths and cutlery were dirty, there were cobwebs on the chairs, and the rugs looked like they hadn't seen a hoover. There were even old food scraps caught under the table legs. We're not people who complain, but this was atrocious. That was it for us.

My welcome was friendly and informative, and I was given a huge upgraded room with fantastic views across Llangattock Escarpment and the green patchwork fields leading up to the mountain. I couldn't believe my luck. The bathroom was clean and roomy, with both a shower and a bath, the furniture was just right, and the bed was very comfortable. After hiking, I enjoyed the health spa: the jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and a few lengths in the pool were a treat for the great price. Dinner was perfect, and the waitresses were friendly and there when I needed them. I slept right through and woke up refreshed. Breakfast was perfect too, with a great selection and nothing too much trouble. The waitresses were polite and professional. Ten out of ten for me. I very much look forward to staying again. We spent four nights at the Manor Hotel, three adults and a toddler, and the staff made our family trip to Wales amazing. The views from our rooms were breathtaking, from sunrise through the clouds to stars on clear nights and sheep down below. It's a little rustic with lots of character, and I'd highly recommend it if you want great views, lovely surroundings and attentive service. You'll need a car to get around. Our rooms, 2 and 3, were spotless and cleaned daily, with fresh towels and refilled tea, coffee, bottled water and biscuits. Room 2 has a shower, while room 3 has a shower and bath. Both bathrooms were up to date and everything worked. The whole staff were excellent, especially Ella, who looked after us at breakfast. It was cooked to order, fresh and delicious, with plenty to choose from for every palate. Dinner was delicious too, including steaks, chicken supreme and vegetarian options. There was lots to choose from for the children, cooked as we wanted, and they provided a highchair. Staff went the extra mile to get everything right. The plates were warm and there were tablecloths on all the tables.

It was such a lovely stay. Budget hotels can feel anonymous, so it was refreshing to find somewhere that was great value and made us feel at home and well looked after. Breakfast was delicious and catered for my dairy-free needs.
