LODGE 12 We arrived for a four-night special birthday celebration and found a filthy hot tub, no wood as promised in the booklet and on the website, and no heating or hot water. I called the provided number at 4:30pm. They said maintenance would come ASAP. By 6pm, my call went unanswered, but when my husband rang from his phone, someone answered straight away and hung up on him. His next call also went unanswered. When I called with my number withheld, the woman picked up and again said maintenance would be there shortly. At 7pm we still had no TV, hot water, hot tub or heating, and were pretty annoyed. Maintenance finally arrived at 7:30 and cleaned the tub. We were told a plumber would come at 9 the next morning to fix the heating and hot water. We had to spend the night without them, and they didn’t even offer a free bag of logs to keep us warm, despite the website and cabin booklet advertising them. We were told they don’t provide that. The plumber arrived at 1pm the next day, needed parts, then drove to Taunton. We still had no heating or hot water, and weren’t offered another lodge for showers or warmth. Hoseasons said they’d contact the owners and call us back. The owner lied, as Hoseasons knew, and they agreed to move us to another site. We left upton Lodge at 5pm, after 25 hours without heating or hot water. Providing hot water is a legal requirement, and this lodge didn’t meet it. Avoid at all costs. It’s run down and the people running it are vile liars.
