The Sun Inn

The Sun Inn has a lovely vibe, and the staff were friendly and helpful, but we left feeling let down. We’d driven 30 minutes on a recommendation, only to miss out on both dishes we’d come for and end up with a disappointing, overpriced alternative. We won’t be rushing back. I’d phoned earlier to book a table and specifically checked that roasts would still be available when we arrived. I was told they were serving until 3pm. We got there at 2:30pm and ordered straight away, then the waitress came back to say they’d already run out. The chicken dish wasn’t available either, so I settled on rib-eye steak. At £37 including peppercorn sauce, I expected something high quality, but it looked like a thin supermarket steak, more like a sizzle steak than a proper rib-eye. The portion was small enough that choosing the salad would have felt like daylight robbery at that price.

We had a lovely festive dinner with family. There was a real log fire, and the welcoming atmosphere felt even more special with the festive touches. Staff were friendly, service was prompt, and the food was outstanding. You can always trust the Sun for top quality food and service. We’ll definitely be back!

We had lunch here today and it was fantastic. We prefer the old part of the building, where we sat. The fire was lit and the Christmas decorations made it feel so welcoming. There were lots of tables filled, but the atmosphere was lovely and the service was perfect. The welcome and food were great too. We highly recommend The Sun Inn.

The food was good, and the portions were generous. There were five of us on a Saturday night, and we got a table in the bar area without a booking, though we seemed to be forgotten once we were seated. The staff were friendly, but service was slow and we had to ask three times for some things. I didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t comment on the rooms. I might stop in if I’m nearby, but I wouldn’t make a special trip.
