The room was spotless and unbelievable, with a perfectly equipped kitchen. We arrived at 10:30 in the morning for a funeral, not realising check-in was at 4, and the very helpful mathew let us into our rooms early. Later, we had a stunning meal in the bar with a couple of equally lovely glasses of wine, again served by mathew. A beautiful hotel is one thing, but the service he gave us is a big reason to return. That level of care feels rare these days. Thank you very much.

The staff were very welcoming, but I’d give the restaurant meals only three stars. The menu was small and expensive, with what I think were six main courses, and none really appealed to me. I went with a burger. It was very nice, but came on a strange six-inch plastic plate, with the fries in a separate container. It felt like eating at a MacDonalds. For a £20 meal, I’d have expected at least a little side salad.

We spent Hogmanay here with my husband and youngest son. The accommodation was clean, warm and really comfortable, and the location was stunning. The welcome was incredibly warm, and all the staff were lovely and helpful. The food was incredible and a real highlight. I’d highly recommend it!

The views were beautiful, and this is a cracking little place. We stayed the night and had dinner at the pub. Our room was lovely, comfortable and had everything we needed. Dinner was excellent, especially the hot-smoked salmon prepared on site and the plump mussels. There’s also a great whisky selection, so we ended up having a little tasting session.

Friendly service and really good food at the inn. We tried the deer, squid, mussels, brisket, pasta, and fish and chips, and every dish was fresh and delicious. Prices were reasonable too.
