Premier Inn Derby South

Emma and Irina at reception made the stay feel personal. They were welcoming and professional when I arrived, and whenever I passed the desk they checked in to see if I was okay. My room was lovely, clean and well maintained, with everything tidy on arrival. Housekeeping clearly keeps the rooms to a high standard, and I was comfortable throughout my stay at Premier Inn Derby West.

The staff I encountered were focused on giving excellent customer service, and the hotel is good for the price. I couldn’t give it five stars, though, because our room felt freezing on the second night. There was no obvious way to adjust the heating, whether through air conditioning or otherwise, and the hallway radiators weren’t on either. When we left early, the front door was standing wide open, letting cold air straight in. I couldn’t find any staff to report this to, and the front desk was unmanned at about 6.30am.

It’s about 2.5miles to town, and it’s not a five star Ritz, but it’s a five star Premier Inn. I came to derby to see friends, and omg, that bed was fantastic. The staff were helpful and polite too.

The dining room could use a refurb, and I wasn’t sure whether the poor signal in my room affects the whole place. Still, the staff were very friendly, the food was good, and the rooms were spacious, clean and warm. There’s plenty of parking, and the location is very quiet.
