The Croft

The Croft is honestly a bit of a joke. I get woken up every night by people shouting in the courtyard or talking loudly by the gate, even with the window closed on a high floor. There’s no staff or security onsite after 5pm or at weekends. Locking yourself out costs 60 quid, and the washing machines and tumble dryers are really expensive. The onsite gym is a joke too. The walls are paper thin, and the kitchens need an upgrade. My flatmates keep things clean and tidy, but our oven, microwave and toaster are gross and seem prehistoric. Reception often shuts early, so if I have a late lecture or work, I can’t pick up packages. Right now we can’t use the common room because some idiots had a water fight and now everyone’s being punished. I’d recommend official derby uni halls instead. They have cleaners who do the kitchen weekly, staff onsite at all times to deal with noise complaints quickly, and repeat offenders are penalised. If you lock yourself out, the RAs will let you in within 5 minutes, for free.

Supermarkets are just a short walk away, which makes the location convenient. The rooms are comfortable, the kitchens are well equipped, and all the staff at The Croft are extremely helpful. I'd definitely recommend it to new students.

The staff are easy to approach and very helpful, and they sort out any issues quickly. The Croft is clean and spacious, with a large kitchen and plenty of storage. The rooms are a great size. I'd definitely recommend staying here :)

The staff are really approachable and helpful. It’s a comfortable place to live, with a reasonably sized room, and the location is handy for walking into town. I've had a very positive stay here so far.
