George Albert Hotel & Spa

The food was tasty at both dinner and breakfast, with good quality ingredients, and the prices felt very fair. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Once you’re inside, the hotel is lovely, finished to a high standard, and you can see the money that’s gone into it. The building is solid, so you don’t hear neighbours snoring. I’d stay again. Well done to everyone involved 👍

The rooms were clean and comfortable, with their own heating controls, and some have lovely views across the rolling countryside. There’s plenty of free parking, and with the hotel’s location a car is probably necessary. I only had the buffet breakfast, so can’t comment on lunch or dinner. It’s a spacious, comfortable hotel and event venue with a spa, wellness facilities and a beautiful restaurant. It would suit tourists visiting the area as well as weddings and conferences. The place is pitched at the medium to high end.

On my second stay, the rooms were spotless again and the staff were exceptional. The exterior looks a little dated, but inside everything is clean and well cared for. The food was delicious, and I heard several other guests complimenting the chef. I’ll definitely return.

The beds were awful, like sleeping on bricks. The air conditioning only cooled the room and couldn’t provide heat, and the hotel felt more like a care home than a proper hotel. The worst part came after checkout. We left on time and the room clean, with just a quarter bottle of wine on the table. Later, we got an email saying it had been left on the bed and that we’d damaged the room. We were charged £375, even though two nights had cost £170. The hotel raised its daily policy rate to £130 and listed the remainder as a cleaning charge, which we strongly believe was unjustified. The manager and reception gave different accounts when we questioned it, adding to our frustration. The whole thing felt more like a scam than genuine service. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
